One Big Love Art Camp and Art Classes
One Big Love Studio, 3836 Glen Park Road, Oakland, CA 94602
About
One Big Love Art Camp and Art Classes offers workshops where children work on drawing, painting, and sculpting with a variety of materials. Each day begins with short warm-up stretches, followed by free sketching and sharing time. Every Friday ends with an art show that young artists set up for presentation to parents and guardians.
• Ages: 5–12 years old
• Schedule: Each week starts on Monday with an introduction to the workspace, an overview of the week’s theme, projects, and artist of the week, plus an introduction to the art materials and tools; each day includes 2 short breaks and a 45-minute lunch in the garden, weather allowed.
These workshops are described as safe and fun and are designed to explore and support the creative voices of young artists through drawing, painting, and sculpting with a variety of materials. Weekly themes are presented as suggestions, and participants are free to work with any subject on a daily or weekly basis, with guidance and guidelines for young artists. If fewer than three children are registered for a camp, the program states that it may cancel that camp with at least one week’s notice.
The program is led by Oakland artist and educator Iranshid Ghadimi, who has been involved in children’s art education for almost twenty years, including work with Oakland Parks and Recreation and Prospect Sierra Elementary School. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the San Francisco Art Institute and a Master of Fine Arts from Mills College, and she attended the Behzad School of Fine Arts from 1975 to 1979. She migrated to the United States in 1985, became a citizen in 1997, received her Bachelor in Fine Art in 1997, and her Master of Fine Art in 2004.
One Big Love Studio makes donations to charitable organizations, including Doctors Without Borders, Embracing the World, and Sandy Hook Promise.
