Step 2 This Dance & Performing Arts offers Tutu Cute Pre-Ballet, Little Steps Tap/Ballet Combo, Tiny Tumblers, Pre-Hip Hop, Little Steps Tap/Jazz Combo, Cheer Dance, Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Hip Hop, and Tumbling. The program includes pre-ballet, tap, jazz, ballet, hip-hop, cheer dance, and tumbling classes.

Programs

• Tutu Cute Pre-Ballet — Ages 4-6 · Pre-ballet class for young children; introduces arm, leg and feet positions, gentle stretches, appropriate body alignment, basic ballet technique and terminology, with creative expression emphasized.
• Little Steps Tap/Ballet Combo — Ages 3-5 · Tap/ballet combo class for young children; introduces ballet basics and tap in a creative, imaginative environment to develop rhythm, coordination and confidence.
• Tiny Tumblers — Ages 3-5 · Tumbling class for very young children; teaches the structure and basics of tumbling skills.
• Pre-Hip Hop — Ages 4-6 · Hip-hop basics class for very young children; teaches isolation and coordination for hip-hop movements.
• Little Steps Tap/Jazz Combo — Ages 6-7 · Tap/jazz combo class that introduces technique in both genres in a fun and nurturing environment.
• Cheer Dance — Ages 4 and up · Dance class with pom style dance and cheer elements; emphasizes rhythm, coordination, strength, flexibility and isolation of movement.
• Jazz — Ages 7+ · Jazz class emphasizing rhythm, coordination, strength, flexibility and isolation of movement, with focus on proper technique and performance quality.
• Tap — Ages 7+ · Tap class emphasizing rhythm, style and sound; students study basic tap steps, combinations and rhythms, with emphasis on proper technique and clear tap sounds.
• Ballet — Ages 7+ · Ballet class for older children; emphasizes technique, proper body alignment, flexibility, strength, grace, coordination, musicality and performance quality.
• Hip Hop — Ages 7+ · Hip-hop class characterized by athletic and bouncy style; done primarily to rap, R & B and hip hop music.
• Tumbling — Ages 6+ · Tumbling class for children; teaches the structure and basics of tumbling skills.

About the provider

Step 2 This Dance & Performing Arts was founded in Oakley, California in August 2002. It is described as an award-winning performing arts studio with an award-winning competition team. The program says dance is for everyone and that it strives to create a welcoming and inclusive environment where every dancer feels valued and supported. Classes and events bring families together to support dancers and the arts.

Placement is made at the discretion of the program Director and faculty. The first 2 weeks are assessment weeks. Teachers may require a student to move to a different class based on level and ability.
