About
Amador County State Preschool Program is a state-subsidized half-day program that currently incorporates a STEAM curriculum model, including science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics, into lessons. Breakfast is provided as part of the program.

• Schedule: Half-day program
The program’s mission is to provide highly qualified learning experiences to eligible three- and four-year-olds with a core curriculum that is culturally, developmentally, and linguistically appropriate. It is a state-subsidized program, and income guidelines are set by the California Department of Education (CDE). Children must reside in California, and 5% of CSPP-funded enrollment is reserved for Children with Exceptional Needs. Admission priorities are based on Child Protective Services or At-Risk status, exceptional needs, income eligibility, Transitional Kindergarten enrollment status, and income thresholds, and family size consists of parents or guardians and all minor children.
The program operates at four sites in Amador County: Ione State Preschool at Ione Elementary, Jackson State Preschool at Argonaut High School, Pioneer State Preschool at Pioneer Elementary, and Plymouth State Preschool at Plymouth Elementary. The leadership team includes Andrea Rotar, Child Development Technician; Jeni DeWalt, Director of Child Development; and Head Teachers Jamie Guthrie at Ione State Preschool, Shannon Blake at Jackson State Preschool, Jessica Vaughn at Pioneer State Preschool, and Tamaran Hollingsworth at Plymouth State Preschool.
To enroll, families must provide an updated immunization record for the child being enrolled; current physical and health forms, including a physical completed by the child’s doctor within 30 days of enrollment and within the last 365 days; proof of residence such as a current utility bill or government form dated within 30 days of the enrollment meeting with name and address; proof of income, which includes 1 month of income within the last 60 days for all sources of income for all parents or guardians in the home, or 12 months for fluctuating income, with additional documentation for CalWorks, self-employment, Lyft or Uber, or fluctuating income; and an original birth certificate or other live birth records for all children under the age of 18 in the family.
