About
ADTC ULTIMATE Sierra Mountains California Dance Camp offers daily dance classes in styles such as contemporary, hip hop, jazz, Broadway (Bwy), lyrical, ballet, tap, and world dance. Campers participate in on-campus activities and perform in a big Friday Show at the end of the one-week session. The program also includes a girls’ night out, a day at the beach with options to paddle board and swim, and a talent night where campers choreograph and perform their own dances.
• Ages: 8–17 years old
• Schedule: One-week sessions
Classes are taught by professional choreographers, including Ellen Mihalick, Lauren Goodman, Sophia Michitson, Christina Johnson (“CJ”), and Katelyn Martin. The camp is an all-girl community, and girls are grouped by age and ability. Campers stay in double (2), quad (4), or sextet (6) dorm rooms with shared bathrooms, and dorms are organized by age. All-female staff are housed on each floor to provide 24-hour supervision and support. On campus, there are laundry facilities and a Dance Canteen stocked with snacks, basic supplies, ADTC apparel, and souvenirs.
Ellen Mihalick is an Instructor & Director at ADTC summer dance camps and has been a Radio City Rockette since 2013, with Broadway National Tour credits including An American in Paris and South Pacific, and TV appearances on Amazon’s Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and HBO’s Succession. Lauren Goodman is a Program Director at ADTC in Colorado, an Instructor-Counselor and Assistant Program Director at ADTC dance camps, and has experience with Gem City Ballet, Dayton Ballet, and Wright State University’s dance program. Sophia Michitson is an Instructor-Counselor at ADTC, a member of Hanna Q Dance Company, and has trained with programs such as The Bolshoi Ballet Summer Intensive and the Joffrey Ballet School Trainee Program. Christina Johnson (“CJ”) has directed and taught at ADTC locations, co-founded the modern dance company Jerboa Dance, and has choreography featured on Fox 5, America’s Got Talent, and a music video, with performance credits for P Diddy, Beyoncé, Martha Stewart, and as an opening soloist for Diana Ross. Katelyn Martin is a professional dancer, choreographer and educator on staff at ADTC who graduated Summa Cum Laude from Loyola Marymount University with a BA in Dance and Communication Studies.
According to the program, 2026 is ADTC’s 24th summer. The stated mission is that the organization believes campers have to do what they love, that the world needs strong and inspired girls doing more of what they love, and that the goal is for every camper to have fun and grow as a dancer and a person. The summer team is trained to empower girls, and the dance camps attract girls from every corner of the United States and all over the world. The camp blends dance, adventure, sun, and summer fun, and offers access to traditional activities associated with summer camp. Campers take 4–5 dance classes per day, and everyone performs in the Friday Show.
The program reports an overall rating of 5 out of 5 based on 223 reviews. Most testimonials include an email for the alumni parent at the end of their review, and parents are invited to contact these parents for more feedback about their ADTC experience. One parent describes ADTC as “fun, positive, and self-esteem building” and notes that their child came home with new friends, experiences, and a renewed interest in different dance styles. Another parent reports that their daughter has attended ADTC in Colorado for five summers, highlights activities such as girls’ night out, a day at the beach with paddle boarding and swimming, and talent night, and shares that their daughter performed a solo at the end-of-week show. A third parent notes that their daughter attends two summers in a row, enjoys non-dance activities mixed in with dance, and that the shows reflect what the girls accomplish in one week.
The organization notes that its locations are in places where the pace of life is slower. ADTC refers to this program as “The ULTIMATE California Dance Camp” and states that it blends dance, adventure, sun, and summer fun in the Sierra Mountains. ADTC also reports having over 13,000 YouTube subscribers and shares behind-the-scenes content on Instagram at @danceadtc.
