About
ADTC ULTIMATE Sierra Tahoe California Dance Camp offers daily dance classes that include contemporary dance, hip hop, jazz, Broadway (Bwy) dance, lyrical dance, ballet, tap, and world dance. Campers also take part in on-campus activities in addition to their dance training. At this California dance camp, campers take 4–5 dance classes per day.
• Ages: 8–17 years old
• Schedule: Campers take 4–5 dance classes per day
The program is described as the ULTIMATE California Dance Camp and blends dance, adventure, sun, and summer fun in the Sierra Mountains. Campers stay in double (2), quad (4), or sextet (6) dorm rooms with shared bathrooms, and dorms are organized by age. An all-female staff is housed on each dorm floor to provide 24-hour supervision and support. Campers have access to on-campus activities, laundry facilities, and a Dance Canteen stocked with snacks, basic supplies, ADTC apparel, and souvenirs.
Classes are taught by professional choreographers such as Ellen Mihalick, Lauren Goodman, Sophia Michitson, Christina Johnson (“CJ”), and Katelyn Martin, whose backgrounds include professional dance companies, Broadway National Tours, cruise ship performances, television appearances, and advanced dance training programs. Members of the leadership team, including Ellen Mihalick, Lauren Goodman, and Christina Johnson (“CJ”), have directed and taught at multiple ADTC locations over several years. The California dance camp curriculum is designed to challenge all levels, from beginners to competitive dancers, and everyone performs in a big Friday Show. The camp is part of an all-girl community with an all-female staff, and the organization states that its summer team is trained to empower girls and that its goal is for every camper to have fun and grow as a dancer and a person.
ADTC reports that 2026 is its 24th summer. The camp has an overall rating of 5 out of 5 based on 223 reviews. The program states that its dance camps attract girls from every corner of the United States and all over the world, and that it operates in locations where the pace of life is slower and where participants can reduce stress, raise serotonin, boost the immune system, and breathe. The organization states that it has just as much fun outside the dance studio as in class.
Parent testimonials describe campers returning with new friends, new dance experiences, and exposure to different styles of dance, including trying new styles at their regular studios afterward. One parent reports that her daughter attends solo and comes home with a renewed love of dance, and describes the camp as fun, positive, and self-esteem building. Another parent reports that her daughter has attended for five summers, has formed strong bonds with counselors and campers, gained confidence, and enjoyed activities such as girls’ night out in town, a day at the beach at Boulder Reservoir with paddle boarding and swimming, and talent night where girls choreograph their own dances. A third parent notes that her daughter dances most of her free time, enjoys non-dance activities mixed in with dance, appreciates the staff’s communication and support when homesick, and looks forward to returning, and also mentions that the shows at the end of the week demonstrate what the girls accomplish in one week.
