From September through May, Lancer Youth Camps offers School Year Clinics & Workshops, and in June, July, and August, it hosts Summer Camps in academics, activities, arts, and athletics. Faith is stated as the foundation of OLu’s Lancer Youth Camps, and the program description notes that activities and experiences are designed to help kids connect, meet new friends, and build relationships with one another. Each camp is described as offering engaging and exciting experiences that help campers learn and have fun all week long.

For athletic camps, families are instructed that kids should wear comfortable athletic clothes and closed-toed shoes. For art and some academic camps, clothes that can get a little dirty when using supplies are recommended, and comfortable, closed-toed shoes are suggested for all camps. For Summer Camps, all kids receive a camp shirt at check-in on the first day, and they may wear their shirt each day of camp if they choose. Written refund requests are honored up to 7 days before the start of camp and must be sent to [email protected]; after that date, no refunds are issued and there are no prorated fees for days missed.

Orange Lutheran states that it exists to help students internalize the Gospel message of salvation in Christ Jesus. The school began as a dream in 1959 and came to fruition in 1973 through the sacrificial giving of Lutheran men and women who envisioned a school that would offer an unparalleled academic education grounded in the Christian faith and the salvation message of Jesus Christ. Dr. Mary Scott serves as the Executive Director/Chief Executive Officer of Orange Lutheran High School.

Orange Lutheran received a 2024 Gold Medal by College Board, and Shelby Taguchi’s artwork was selected for the College Board’s 2021 AP Art & Design Digital Exhibit. The UCI Writing Project holds two sessions of its youth camps at Orange Lutheran.

Testimonials from the school community describe the environment and experiences at Orange Lutheran. Dr. Mary Scott notes that Orange Lutheran High School is “a dynamic, energizing place filled with excellent teachers and staff who love Jesus and who love to serve,” and she connects this to providing “a rigorous academic foundation and transformative arts, athletics and missions experiences.” Student Kiki Estrada ’22 states that “the way Orange Lutheran cares for its students and athletes is amazing” and mentions prayers before class and support from teachers and coaches. Dr. Adam Schulte ’99 says, “I didn’t know how hard I could work till I met Coach Jim Kunau,” and compares the work ethic in the football program under Coach Kunau to his medical training and fitness interests. Shelby Taguchi ’21 is noted for an emotive and immersive art installation that received national recognition through selection for the College Board’s 2021 AP Art & Design Digital Exhibit.
