Ken Aston Soccer Referee Camp is held in honor of Ken Aston's 21 years as principal instructor. Attendees work with top-level instructors, many of whom learned the craft from renowned FIFA referee Ken Aston, and many instructors hold Section and National positions. The instructors are pledged to keeping Ken Aston’s Vision of the Spirit of the Game alive. Principal Guest Instructor Brian Hall’s lifelong contributions to the American Youth Soccer Organization were recognized with induction into the AYSO Hall of Fame, and he was awarded the Eddie Pearson award. According to camp information, attendees leave with a renewed sense of pride, a more refined understanding of how to contribute to their local organizations, and an energized spirit.

Parents and referees have shared many comments about the camp. One parent, Lew Zionts from Pacific Palisades, CA, described meeting fellow referees from other regions, hearing from a World Cup referee, and gaining confidence to move beyond U-8 matches after taking the Intermediate Referee Course. Other attendees, such as Steve Morgan from Torrance, CA, and Yannis Yortsos from San Marino, CA, noted the chance to grow their game, improve game management and foul recognition, and appreciated the organization and knowledgeable instructors. Multiple course evaluations describe the camp as informative, first class, and the best AYSO training some had attended, with several participants stating they learned a lot, met many good people, and would recommend the classes or return for advanced instruction.
