About
Youth Centers of Orange offers after school programming that focuses on enrichment, academic support, and courage-building. The program follows a youth development model that emphasizes Belonging, Usefulness, Influence, and Competency, and it operates with a belief in “fun with a purpose.”
The Youth Centers of Orange operates The YCO @ Palmyra; Before & After School Care Program in partnership with Palmyra. It partners with the Orange Unified School District to provide after school opportunities made possible by the Expanded Learning Opportunities Program in the State of California. The Youth Centers of Orange is brought to families by The HUB OC, a local nonprofit that came alongside the program in June 2020. The organization was originally established as the Old Towne Boys & Girls Club in 2017 in partnership with the Tustin Club, which had been running programs at Handy Park since 2013, and became its own independent after school program under the Youth Centers of Orange name in 2018. The mission of Youth Centers of Orange is to empower children to become “World Changers” through character development, social interaction, and confidence-building, with programs that serve underserved youth and low-income families, many of whom face homelessness and other socioeconomic challenges. The leadership team includes JOANNA FERMIN as Director of Operations and EDGAR GARNICA as Director of Programming. One parent described the program by saying that families in Orange had been waiting for years for a program like this, and that finding something where their kids are safe and doing something positive is “a God send” for their families.
