Child Development Resources Head Start and Early Head Start Programs

Child Development Resources Head Start and Early Head Start Programs offers the Head Start Program for children ages 3 to 5, the Early Head Start Program for infants and toddlers from birth to age 3 and pregnant mothers, and the Early Head Start-Child Care Partnership Program for children ages 0 to 4. Enrollment for all programs is handled through the main office and 26 other locations, and the programs have twenty-six site locations in Ventura County serving a total of 1,384 children.

Programs

• Head Start Program — ages 3 to 5 · No-cost comprehensive family-focused program; provides quality education and support for children whose family income falls within the federal poverty guidelines.
• Early Head Start Program — birth to age 3 and pregnant mothers · Serves low-income infants, toddlers under age 3, and pregnant women.
• Early Head Start-Child Care Partnership Program — ages 0 to 4 · Serves children ages zero to four years of age.

About the provider

For more than 40 years, CDR has recognized that one organization acting alone is not able to meet the challenges of making quality early child care and education available to all families in the community. CDR says it provides a foundation to build promising futures for children and collaborates with families and communities to deliver programs that enrich lives. The Head Start and Early Head Start programs welcome and encourage parents and families to get involved in their child’s education, and CDR encourages involvement, participation, and advocacy for its programs.

Eligibility is based on income, age of child, and family size. Parents with kids who have disabilities are encouraged to apply. The programs accept children with disabilities or special needs and are required to enroll a certain number of students with an IEP or IFSP. Families experiencing homelessness, children in foster care, and families receiving TANF/CalWORKs are eligible regardless of family income. When available, programs can enroll a limited number of children whose families are above the income guidelines.
