Best Day Camp Ever is run by Community Development Center USA (CDCUSA), led by Founder and CEO David Harris. CDCUSA is a National Certified American Red Cross Provider and a certified provider of the American Red Cross. CDCUSA states that its mission is to unite individuals, families, businesses, and communities together for the sole purpose of achieving their fullest potential. The program groups participants by grade level, including K–6th grade age-appropriate groups, 7th–9th grade Leaders in Training (LIT), 10th–12th grade Counselors in Training (CIT), and young adults ages 16–24 in Work Experience Program volunteer and paid employment roles, where leaders get a group of kids to work with throughout the day on both trips and camp activities. Financial assistance is available, and CDCUSA conducts its business through a virtual office to reduce overhead and administration costs so more funds can go to programs and services.
CDCUSA works with local leadership, other nonprofit organizations, and national partners, including the Pacific Palisades American Legion Post 283, and has partnered with TESLA to provide free community WiFi and power hubs during a wildfire in the Palisades and Malibu communities. CDCUSA is a partner and active participant with YEA / AV Chamber of Commerce programs and is an official partner and founding donor of NewColorsProject. CDCUSA also collects donations and canned or boxed food during Summer Giving Tuesdays events for fall and winter food distribution programs for families in need.
One testimonial from the YEA / AV Chamber of Commerce describes a field trip where children visited Bravery Brewing, heard the business story from the owners, and toured the brewery process, and it notes CDCUSA and David Harris as active partners in that program. A testimonial from NewColorsProject credits CDCUSA’s contribution and partnership with supporting community cleanups, administrative work, and resource and rock painting pop-ups, and includes specific thanks to David Harris for mentoring its CEO about the nonprofit sector. Additional testimonials describe CDCUSA’s support for a single mother rebuilding her life with her children and for a high school senior who received support with college visits, decision-making, and budgeting for the first semester of college.
