The program is led by Professor Caio Terra, a 12-time world champion who has been instructing students and producing world champions since 2004. Caio Terra has taught and trained at Cesar Gracie Academies after moving to the United States in 2007, opened his own academy in San Jose in 2011, and opened the Caio Terra Academy in Palo Alto in 2022. The academy follows a one team philosophy and is part of the Caio Terra Association, which has over 50 affiliates worldwide and is growing nationally. The academy offers specialized classes for toddlers, youth, and teens, as well as an award winning adult Brazilian Jiu Jitsu program and all gym access memberships that enable training at any Caio Terra Academy in the Bay Area.
