About
Swimming Lessons takes place in a heated 25-yard pool that is the center of many activities at Foothills Tennis & Swimming Club. The program is part of a broader set of aquatics offerings that also include swim teams, laps, and swim clinics. All tennis and swim lessons and clinics at the club are open to the public.
Foothills Tennis & Swimming Club is a proprietary club that provides a social and recreational center for families and individuals who seek a well-appointed but casual environment in which to develop a community of friends. The club also offers tennis lessons, tennis tournaments, tennis clinics, and tennis mixers in addition to its swimming activities. Foothills serves a membership of about 400 families and has always been run with a “do it yourself” philosophy and enthusiastic, helpful members, with swim meets, tennis tournaments, dinners, parties, and work days directed and put into action by the members. The club began as an idea of Ted Carter’s in 1953, and in December of 1954 it became incorporated as a California non-profit corporation. The leadership team has included Ted Carter as president, Dudley Zinke and Temp Peck as vice presidents, Gene Hammond as secretary, and Dick Abbott as treasurer.
