The UC Junior Tennis Program offers tennis through clinics, summer sessions, private lessons, and tournament play. Junior players take part in organized clinics that focus on tennis activities several days a week. The program also includes options for more individualized private lessons and participation in tournament play.
• Ages: 5–16 years old
• Schedule: Junior Tennis clinics held Tuesdays through Thursdays from 4:30–6:00 PM
The UC Junior Tennis Program is led by Randy Becker, Director of Tennis and Pickleball, and Ray Byrum, Head Tennis Professional. Randy Becker has been a Bay Area-based tennis teaching professional since 1993, has traveled with the U.S. Davis Cup Team, the Bryan Brothers, and Jim Courier’s Senior Tour, has won two USTA National Bronze Balls in tennis, and has competed in over 500 USTA matches. Since 2011, Randy Becker has finished 18 IRONMAN triathlon events (16x70.3 and 2x140.6) and many other endurance challenges. Ray Byrum competed at Fresno State and professionally and is a highly rated USTA 5.0. The program’s stated mission is to inspire and develop young athletes through clinics, summer sessions, private lessons, and tournament play, and to help participants elevate their game, build lasting friendships, stay active, and have fun every step of the way.
