• Ages: 8–18 years old
Team NorCal Lacrosse is the oldest and most successful lacrosse development program in the San Francisco Bay Area and was the first travel team to sponsor a year-round travel program for kids from youth to high school in Northern California. Since 2008, over 4,000 travel team players have passed through the program, with players coming from throughout the Bay Area, including San Francisco, Monterey, Sacramento, and Napa. The program sponsors teams across various age groups, including Youth, Middle School, and High School boys and girls teams, and represents Northern California in local, regional, and national lacrosse tournaments year-round across the country. Team NorCal Lacrosse has won championships at IWLCA tournaments, the Vail Shootout, the Maryland Summer Sizzle, the Santa Barbara Showdown, Pacific Lacrosse Festival, GoldRush, and Sandstorm, and multiple alumni played in the MCLA and WCLA National Championship tournaments in 2023, 2024, and 2025.
The mission of Team NorCal Lacrosse is to be a year-round competitive program that helps build great lacrosse players and even better student-athletes, with a philosophy focused on teaching the whole child and supporting growth on and off the field. All Directors and most Head Coaches are educators by profession, and coaches are described as among the most accomplished college, high school, club, and youth coaches in California. The program states that the skills players learn through its travel teams are vital skills that will help them succeed in college and beyond, and that it cares about every player as a person as well as an athlete.
Team NorCal Lacrosse notes that a large majority of the USA Lacrosse named high school All-Americans and Academic All-Americans over the last decade in Northern California are Team NorCal players and alumni. The program reports that over 90 young men and women are currently playing in college at Division 1, Division 2, Division 3, and MCLA lacrosse programs at over 50 different colleges, with some alumni serving as captains of their college teams. Alumni have played on NCAA Lacrosse Championship teams at Division 1, Division 2, Division 3, and JuCo levels, including Denver (D1), Limestone (D2), Tufts (D3), and Onondaga (JuCo) in 2015. Team NorCal Lacrosse and the Bear Logo are registered trademarks of Team NorCal LLC.
The leadership team includes Colleen Niklaus, Executive Director and Director of Girls Programs, and Ryan Bolaños, Director of Boys Programs. The program also offers mentoring to players who are interested in becoming coaches and giving back to the lacrosse community.
