• Ages: 9–14 years old
• Schedule: Monday–Friday sessions on June 15–19, 2026 and June 22–26, 2026, with daily activities running from morning drop-off at 8:30 AM through closing remarks at 3:00 PM
Campers at Viking Basketball Camp follow a sample daily schedule that begins with drop off from 8:30–9:00 AM, followed by camp introduction and warm up from 9:00–9:15 AM. Fundamental work and drills run from 9:15–10:00 AM, then station work, including shooting, from 10:00–11:00 AM. From 11:00 AM–Noon, campers participate in games and contests, and from Noon–1:00 PM, lunch is provided for full day campers. The afternoon includes more station work, including shooting, from 1:00–1:45 PM, games and competitions from 1:45–2:45 PM, and closing remarks from 2:45–3:00 PM. For full day campers, lunch is included, with a different lunch selection each day, with examples from last year including pizza, grilled food such as burgers, hot dogs, veggie meats, Buca di Beppo, and Sancho's Taqueria.
Viking Basketball Camp is open to boys and girls who are entering grades 4–9 in the 2026–27 school year, including students who have just finished grades 3–8 in the 2025–26 school year. The camp is described as a place for players with high school playing aspirations and campers just learning the game, and all skill levels will be challenged. Emphasis is placed on translating individual skill work to a team and game setting, with a focus on offensive spacing and basket cuts, and defensive help side principles and moving as the ball moves. The camp emphasizes growth mindset, fun, and team values, and states that while campers learn individual skills, it is important to understand how to play with a team and how to play without the ball.
Campers have the opportunity to learn from Palo Alto Varsity Boys Basketball Head Coach Jeff LaMere, who leads the camp. The staff is described as enthusiastic, conscientious, and passionate about the game of basketball, playing it, and teaching it. Viking Basketball states that it focuses on fundamental skills for improvement, with campers working on these skills in both individual and team settings, and that it wants players to focus on the process with an understanding that a strong base of fundamentals will ultimately produce results. The camp also states that it puts an emphasis on fun, aims for campers to learn and improve while cultivating a love for the game, and expresses a belief that developing a passion leads to tremendous growth.
The camp will follow all health and safety protocols as set out by the CDC, State of California, and County of Santa Clara. The stated camp cancellation policy is that full refunds minus any credit card fees will be given until May 1, 2026; a 50% refund minus any credit card fees or a full credit to next year's camp is available for cancellations from May 1–June 1, 2026; and after June 1, cancellations will result in a camp credit for next year's camp.
