Campers are divided between age groups and skill levels for the activities. The camp schedule includes drop off from 8:30–9:00 AM, camp introduction and warm up from 9:00–9:15 AM, fundamental work and drills from 9:15–10:00 AM, station work including shooting from 10:00–11:00 AM, games and contests from 11:00 AM–Noon, lunch from Noon–1:00 PM for full day campers, more station work including shooting from 1:00–1:45 PM, games and competitions from 1:45–2:45 PM, and closing remarks from 2:45–3:00 PM. Viking Basketball Camp focuses on fundamental skills for improvement in both individual and team settings, with an emphasis on translating individual skill work to a team and game setting. The camp emphasizes growth mindset, fun, and team values. On offense, the camp emphasizes proper spacing and basket cuts, and on defense it emphasizes help side principles and understanding that players need to move as the ball moves. The program states that while campers learn individual skills, it is also important to understand how to play with a team and how to play without the ball. The camp is open to boys and girls who are entering grades 4–9 in the 2026–27 school year, including students who have just finished grades 3–8 in the 2025–26 school year, and notes that it is a camp for both players with high school playing aspirations and campers just learning the game, with all skill levels challenged.
Campers have the opportunity to learn from Palo Alto Varsity Boys Basketball Head Coach Jeff LaMere, who leads the camp, and the staff is described as enthusiastic, conscientious, and passionate about the game of basketball, playing it, and teaching it. The camp will follow all health and safety protocols as set out by the CDC, State of California, and County of Santa Clara. The camp cancellation policy states that full refunds minus any credit card fees will be given until May 1, 2026; a 50% refund minus any credit card fees or a full credit to the next year's camp is available for cancellations from May 1–June 1, 2026; and after June 1, cancellations will result in a camp credit for the next year's camp.
