Wednesday Night Hop was founded in 2005 by Megan Sershen Hornbecker and Trevor Gattis. It is now run by a steering committee made up of Gilles Bouvier, Nick Gonella, Sol Zitter, and Tamra Seto, and it is licensed by Silicon Valley Swing Dance LLC. Guest teachers listed for the program include Alana Tran, Alex Phelps, Ali Wilkening, Alice Chang, Amanda Collins, Amy Sorenson, Andree George, Annika Mauro, Audrey Ho, Ben Doughty, Bryan Lopez, Calvin Chu, Calvin Lu, Chris Ortega, Daniel Tan, Edward Paddock, Franz Jundis, Gaurab Banerjee, Haily Holt, Helen Garfinkle, James Yeh, Jamie Shen, Jeannie Tran, Karen Huddleston, Kevin Weng, Liwen Chen, Margot Helm, Max Ramirez, Michelle Li, Minh Hoang, Paige Stanley, Patty Anderson, Paul Csonka, Paulina Bargalló, Penny Tsai, Peter Bullen, Roni Chau, Rosetta Phan, Samantha Yeh, and Sarah-Marie Chan.

Some classes may require attendees to wear a mask, and all attendees are expected to follow staff directions about mask use. Each dancer must register separately because of a waiver requirement. The program offers options to volunteer time in exchange for free dance or class, and notes that a community fund may be able to help. The program also references dance etiquette and a code of conduct, and notes that private lessons are available.
