Winter Lodge Skating Classes

Winter Lodge Skating Classes offers Youth - Basic Skills, Teens - Basic Skills, Parent & Tot, and Pre Freestyle Skills. Youth - Basic Skills includes rental skates, Teens - Basic Skills includes rental skates and free practice time during the 3-5 pm public session, Parent & Tot includes rental skates for one child and one parent, and Pre Freestyle Skills uses skaters’ own skates.

Programs

• Youth - Basic Skills — Youth (5-10 yrs old) · Monday-Friday, between 3:00 pm and 5:00 pm; Saturday, between 8:30 am and 11:00 am
• Teens - Basic Skills — Teens (11-16 yrs old) · Monday, 5:00 pm to 5:30 pm; Monday, 5:30 pm to 6:00 pm (upper levels) · Beginner through D level. Includes rental skates. Class meets for 30 minutes once a week with free practice time during the 3-5 pm public session. Makeups not available.
• Parent & Tot — 3-5 yrs old with parent · Friday, 1:00-1:45 pm · Includes rental skates for one child and one parent. Parent does not need to know how to skate. Strollers welcome. Makeups not available.
• Pre Freestyle Skills — 9-17 yrs old · Tuesday, 5:15-6:00 pm; 6:00-6:45 pm · Introduces skaters to the elements required in Freestyle Skills 1. Prerequisite: Passed level D. Skaters provide their own skates. Makeups not available.

About the provider

Winter Lodge has been a place of Palo Alto culture and heritage for over 70 years and has been operating since 1956. It is a non-profit organization. Its mission is to be a destination for healthy, outdoor activity and a purely recreational skating school with a focus on enjoying learning to skate. USA TODAY reported that Winter Lodge is the #1 rated ice skating rink in the U.S. according to Yelp users, Outside Magazine ranked it among the top 10 outdoor ice skating experiences in the U.S., and Bay Area Parent Magazine voted it Best of the Bay Area.

Public session tickets must be purchased in advance online only and may be purchased up to 30 days in advance. Classes are offered for kids aged 5 and up. Adult classes are offered throughout the season. Gloves are required for all skaters. Helmets are required for Beginners and recommended for all other skaters. Makeups not available for some classes. Parents or family who wish to skate during practice time must purchase tickets. Family Account required before registering. New and returning students register separately. Applications may not be sent by email.
