Winter Lodge Skating Classes offers outdoor ice skating on a recreationally sized rink that is smaller in size and designed for family fun. The program includes public skating, skating classes, and Beginner to advanced Freestyle Skills classes, along with options for group reservations and whole rink reservations. Group and private tennis lessons are also available through the same organization.

• Schedule: Winter Lodge opens October 18, 2025 for public skating and private events, and October 13, 2025 for group classes, with the last day of public skating on April 12, 2026
Winter Lodge was established in 1956 and has been a place of Palo Alto culture and heritage for 70 years. It is a permanent outdoor rink and a non-profit organization. USA TODAY reported that Winter Lodge is the #1 rated ice skating rink in the U.S. according to Yelp users, Outside Magazine ranked it as one of the top 10 outdoor ice skating experiences in the U.S., and Bay Area Parent Magazine voted it “Best of the Bay Area” for a family-favorite destination. It is the oldest ice skating rink in the San Francisco Bay Area and the only permanent outdoor rink west of the Sierra. The rink hosts Winter Lodge Annual Shows, and a holiday tree is put up the week after Thanksgiving and stays up through the first weekend of the new year. The smallest skate size available is a toddler 6 and the largest sizes are Ladies 14 and Mens 15, and skates are intended to fit snug and be laced tight all the way to the top with toes touching the end of the skate.
