Girls United Summer Day Camp

Girls United Summer Day Camp includes activities such as capture the flag, counselor hunt, water day, a talent show, arts and crafts, tie-dye, STEM style fort building, and bracelet making. Campers take part in theme days like Water Day, Neon Day, and a Talent Show on Friday, along with team-building exercises. The program offers all the excitement and adventure of their overnight camp in a day camp format and has moved away from sport-specific programming to create a classic camp atmosphere.

Girls United Summer Day Camp now offers camps for girls going into K–8th grade, with campers divided into Sparks (grades K–2), Mavericks (grades 3–4), Legends (grades 5–7), and LIT (Leaders in Training) for rising 8th and 9th graders. Activities are tailored to different age groups, and the Sparks group has extra staff support along with regular water breaks and sunscreen parties. The Mavericks group focuses on adventure, fun, empowerment, teamwork, creativity, and personal growth, while the Legends group develops leadership skills through mentorship and teamwork and participates in the Big Sister, Little Sister program. The LIT Program is offered at no cost to participants if accepted, and each LIT is paired with a Lead Counselor who will mentor them as they take on leadership roles during both weeks of Day Camp.

The program uses “campwork” assignments—described as like homework but better—to focus on kindness and community, and the camper-counselor relationship is described as a cornerstone of engagement. Girls United reports that it has expanded its program to reach more girls in the community and offers scholarships for eligible applicants with both full and partial financial assistance. The mission at Girls United is to positively impact the lives of young girls in the community by providing empowering camps that promote growth, lasting friendships, and valuable mentorships, with a commitment to uniting girls and instilling the confidence they need to become strong, empowered young women.
