Petaluma Academy of Martial Arts

Petaluma Academy of Martial Arts offers Introduction to Kenpo for children, with the same Kenpo Karate taught to adults and more emphasis on physical fitness and self discipline. The children’s classes for ages 6-12 include Basic Kicks, Blocks & Strikes, Kata, and Techniques, and bully defense plus awareness-escape drills are also included. Private lessons for children are offered as one on one instruction.

• Introduction to Kenpo — Children · Children are taught the same Kenpo Karate as adults, with more emphasis on physical fitness and self discipline; bully defense and awareness-escape drills are included.
• Kenpo Karate, Adults — 13 and older · Mon & Thurs 6:00-7:00 pm; Sat 10:00-11:00 am · Basic adult program focuses on Kenpo Karate, including instruction in Escrima and Kick Boxing.
• Kickboxing — 13 and older · Friday 5:00-6:00 pm
• Tai Chi — Adults · Monday, Wednesday, & Friday 10:00-11:00 am; Wednesday 6:00-7:00 pm · Beginner & Intermediate Tai Chi classes are offered.
• Self-Defense for Everyone
• Children's Classes — 6-12 years old · Tuesday & Thursday 5:00-5:30 pm; Saturday 10:00-11:00 am · Students are taught Basic Kicks, Blocks & Strikes, Kata and Techniques.
• Private Lessons — Children · One on One Instruction.
• Seniors Balance Class — Seniors · $60 per month · Drop-in fee is $20.

About the provider

Petaluma Academy of Martial Arts began in 1979 as the Water Street Exercise Studio in the old Petaluma Mill. The school moved to the historic McNear Building in 1981, became Petaluma Kenpo Karate School, and changed its name to Petaluma Academy of Martial Arts in 2004.
