Marin County Outdoor School at Walker Creek Ranch

Marin County Outdoor School at Walker Creek Ranch offers overnight outdoor education programs that bring students together in a clean, safe, and comfortable environment. The program uses the principles of thematic instruction to support students’ critical thinking, processing, and socialization skills within a special learning environment focused on the natural world. The Outdoor School operates alongside a conference center that also serves organized groups with personalized services, facilities, and programming.

Since 1990, Walker Creek Ranch has been a place for people to connect with each other, their communities, and nature. Each year, the Outdoor School serves 5,000 students in its overnight outdoor education programs, and the site hosts an additional 5,000 guests for private conferences, family reunions, weddings, and other events. The program participates in the National School Lunch Program, providing nutritious, balanced meals to support the health and well-being of all students. A teacher described the naturalists at the Outdoor School as gaining students’ trust very quickly and engaging them in all of the activities.
