The Petaluma School of Music has been making music since 2001 and is led by Owner/Director Melody Caspari, who has been in that role since 2012. The school states that it has been established with the purpose of bringing the joy of music to all age groups and is committed to nurturing the musical growth of each student while they work toward their individual goals. The mission also notes that teachers use innovative instruction, aim to foster the joy of music in each student, and share music with the community.

The school offers both virtual and in-person lessons, with students ranging in age from 4 months to 99 years. Each year, students have the opportunity to perform at two concerts, with the next student concert scheduled for July 2026 (date to be announced). Petaluma Mother’s Club members can receive a discount, and sibling discounts are available.

Adults accompanying babies and toddlers are required to wear face masks inside the music school. All persons 3 years and older who study in person must wear a face mask and wash or disinfect their hands before and after the music lesson, and complimentary disposable masks are available at the front door for those who need one. The music school is professionally cleaned and disinfected regularly, and air purifiers with HEPA filters that capture particles down to 0.1 microns run in every classroom. The school describes itself as a musical haven for the community and notes that there is plenty of free parking.
