About
Kids & Youth Islamic Summer Camp includes Islamic knowledge classes, outdoor games, nature activities, arts and crafts, sports, and water balloon fun. The program focuses on enriching Deen through engaging play, educational activities, arts, and sports. Camp groups include boys and girls ages 4–7 together, and boys and girls ages 8–11 in separate groups.
• Ages: 4–11 years old
• Schedule: Monday through Friday from June 2, 2025, to August 1, 2025, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with each unit lasting approximately 45 minutes
• Price: $360/week; 4–9 weeks at a $50 per week discount; 10% discount for siblings
The camp is offered at MCC East Bay, a regional community center dedicated to family and youth. The leadership team includes Instructor Indira Kaljo, founder of Almadina Mustangs; Girls Counselor and Lead, Sr. Masoma; and Boys Counselor and Lead, Br. Kashif. Indira Kaljo holds a Master’s degree in Science with an emphasis in Physical Education, has organized summer and winter camps for youth in Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Bosnia, and California over the last twelve years, has played professional basketball, and has been a director of various programs since 2014. Sr. Masoma is a Hafidhah of the Quran and has years of hands-on experience teaching at various Islamic summer camps, Sunday schools, and community programs throughout the Bay Area. Br. Kashif finished Hifz in 2018, attended K–8th grade at Northstar Islamic School learning advanced Fiqh, Islamic studies, and Seerah, and has experience teaching children as an after-school maktab teacher for Quran and Islamic studies.
MCC East Bay’s mission is to promote and support spiritual, educational, outreach, and social services, ensure a safe and uplifting environment for Muslims in East Bay, foster new opportunities, provide equity across all programs, and champion a culture of diversity and inclusion. MCC has a standing policy that financial need should never hold a person back from attending any activity held in the community center, and a financial waiver is available through a scholarship request form. MCC is committed to civic and civil engagement with communities of other faiths and society and engages in interfaith activities and community and multi-faith outreach work.
Families are asked to send children with water bottles and lunch for the day, while Friday’s lunch is provided for all attendees. Campers are asked to wear comfortable clothes and tennis shoes and to bring prayer clothes for Dhuhr prayer. The program maintains a maximum of 1 teacher for every 10 kids in all groups, and families can reserve for 1 week at a time or 4–9 weeks at a discounted rate.
