About

Dolores Bengtson Aquatic Center Youth Aquatics Programs include lap swim, recreational swim, swim lessons, Saturday swim lessons, Junior Lifeguard Camp, Junior PADI Scuba Camp, water exercise classes, shallow water workout, Boy Scout swim tests, and Red Cross certification courses such as Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED, Lifeguarding, and Water Safety Instructor (WSI). Saturday swim lessons are single day classes based on American Red Cross Parent/Child Aquatics, Preschool Aquatics, Learn-to-Swim, and Adult Swim programs. Water exercise classes are offered in both shallow water and deep water, and the shallow water workout is described as a high intensity shallow-water aerobics class for intermediate to advanced exercisers.

• Ages: 0–18 years old
• Schedule: Lap swim and recreational swim are offered on specific mornings, mid-days, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays, with recreational swim available from June 6 to August 2 and some dates closed or affected for holidays and swim meets.
• Price: Lap swim and recreational swim have drop-in and membership prices for adults, youth, and seniors, and Junior PADI Scuba Camp has a $125 supply fee due at registration.

The facility features a 50-meter Olympic-size pool, a shallow pool with waterslide, and a 25-meter “L-shaped” lap pool with an attached diving well and two 1-meter diving boards, along with areas for picnics and lounging poolside. Pools are heated to 80 degrees year-round, and the site has ADA accessibility, locker rooms with daily-use lockers that require participants to bring their own lock, shower facilities, and plenty of parking. Air quality closures are based on Airnow.gov, with closure if the air quality index reaches 151 or higher. Participants in water exercise classes may enter the water up to 5 minutes before the start of class as long as a lifeguard is on deck.

The Dolores Bengtson Aquatic Center offers American Red Cross certification courses, including Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED, Lifeguarding, and Water Safety Instructor (WSI). The Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED course provides a $35 certification that lasts for two years from the course date, and successful completion of the WSI course qualifies students to teach American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim courses and issue corresponding certifications. Junior Lifeguard Camp is a requirement for those wishing to volunteer at the aquatic center in the summer and includes elements of the American Red Cross Junior Lifeguarding course but does not provide a lifeguard or CPR certification.

Junior PADI Scuba Camp is offered by Dive ‘n Trips staff. The aquatic center offers volunteer positions as Junior Swim Instructor and Junior Lifeguard for volunteers ages 12 and up, with volunteers tracking their hours through an online system called BetterImpact.
