Sensei Kevin holds a 5th Degree Black Belt (Godan) in Judo and is a 2nd Degree IBJJF Certified Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt. He has been an International Gold Coach for USA Judo for over 15 years, is a National Referee, and serves as head wrestling coach of a local high school. His competition record includes 2023 Pan American Champion (Mexico), 2023 Asian Championships Nagoya, Japan 2nd place, 2022 Vet World Championships Poland 7th place, ranked #1 in the USA M6 -81kg, and 2020 BJJ Masters World Champion at the black belt level. He is also a retired Fire Battalion Chief with 32 years of service.

Tri-Valley Judo and Jiu-Jitsu is a registered USA Judo Club and an IBJJF-affiliated Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy. The program describes its training as world-class, with a dynamic blend of traditional Judo, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and wrestling taught by competition-proven instructors. According to its mission statement, kids’ programs teach resilience and bully-proofing, and adults have tailored sessions for recreation or mastery in a supportive, family-friendly environment. The program states that it serves students age 5–65+ and serves the East Bay, and that it aims to be more than a dojo, describing itself as a home away from home.
