Sierra Nevada Journeys Outdoor Science Programs at Grizzly Creek Ranch focuses on outdoor science and science-based education programs. The program includes outdoor school through an Overnight Outdoor Learning program, one-day field science expeditions, classroom teaching, and Family STEM Nights. It also offers STEM lessons, outdoor learning for classrooms, camps for people with disabilities, leadership development, and group and conference programs.

The mission of Sierra Nevada Journeys Outdoor Science Programs at Grizzly Creek Ranch is to deliver innovative outdoor, science-based education programs for youth to develop critical thinking skills and to inspire natural resource stewardship. The program’s science instructors deliver curriculum for first-through-sixth-grade students, including teaching in classrooms and leading one-day field science expeditions in the Reno and Sacramento areas. Fifth- and sixth-grade students and their teachers attend the Overnight Outdoor Learning program at Grizzly Creek Ranch. The program trains teachers on engaging STEM lessons and outdoor learning for their classrooms and engages families through Family STEM Nights. On weekends and during summers, the organization runs camps for people with disabilities, leadership development, and group and conference programs, and 72 percent of the students served are from low-income families and 70 percent are students of color.
