Kids Outdoor Sports Camp

Kids Outdoor Sports Camp offers activities such as hunter education course and test, safe marksmanship, archery skills, fishing, nature walks, wildlife observation, and group games. Campers may also take part in longer distance marksmanship, moving targets, scenario drills, gear care, cleaning, and safety checks, as well as field navigation, range estimation, judgment-based decision-making, 3-D archery, wildlife tracking, habitat assessment, species identification, simulated hunts, advanced archery, big game strategy, and a marksmanship specialty tract. Additional activities include conservation science, Sportsmen’s Alliance curriculum, advanced simulations, mentoring younger campers, learning equipment used for each style of hunting, hunter safety, conservation education, equipment care, cleaning, and repair, a 3-D archery course, learning how to climb into and out of a tree stand, spotting Tule Elk, and hunt simulations. Beginner Camp is described as a starting point for new or minimally experienced campers, Advanced Camp offers a more hands-on, challenge-based outdoor experience that adapts each year for returning campers, and Elite Camp is the highest level of the KOSC experience with selective admission and specialty tracts.

• Schedule: Beginner Camps run from Sunday afternoon–Thursday afternoon for 5 days/4 nights; Advanced Camps run from Sunday afternoon–Friday afternoon for 6 days/5 nights; Elite Camps run from Sunday afternoon–Friday afternoon for 6 days/5 nights.

Kids Outdoor Sports Camp was founded in 1998 by Judy Oswald. Kids Outdoor Sports Camp started its first year in the summer of 1998 and is celebrating its 27th year of summer camps this upcoming summer. Over the course of 26 years and 27 summer camps, Kids Outdoor Sports Camp reports that it has trained thousands of kids in California over 26+ summers. The program states that Beginner, Advanced, and Elite Camps are all overnight (sleep away), and that Advanced Camp II is the 3rd level and Elite Camp Two is the 5th level of the Outdoor Conservation Explorer Program. Kids Outdoor Sports Camp is dedicated to building the next generation of outdoor and conservation leaders to ensure a bright future for California hunting, angling and shooting sports. Kids Outdoor Sports Camp is a registered 501(C)3 organization. The program notes partnerships with Wing and Barrel Ranch, Point Blue Conservation Science at Wing & Barrel Ranch, and Bird Haven and Paul and Sandi Bonderson.
