Cruz Language Academy

Cruz Language Academy offers one-on-one virtual Spanish lessons through Zoom, including conversational Spanish classes and Spanish literature courses for adolescents and adults. The program also includes a Spanish after school program called Kiddos Lingua and a Spanish summer camp, along with ongoing 1:1 virtual or face-to-face Spanish classes for kids and teens. Classes use experiential and communicative approaches, with upper levels taught entirely in Spanish and a bilingual approach in English and Spanish.

• Schedule: Class options Monday through Friday starting at 8:30 am, with kids/teens lessons offered in 30- or 45-minute formats and a minimum course length of one semester; ongoing classes run all year, with the Spanish after school program from late August to mid-June and Spanish summer camp in the 2nd and 3rd weeks of June
• Price: Package 1 at $260 per month for 4 hours (two 30-minute sessions per week, 8 classes per month); Package 2 at $350 per month for 6 hours (two 45-minute sessions per week, 8 classes per month); Kids/Teens 1:1 face-to-face or virtual Spanish classes from $270.00, plus a one-time materials fee of $55 for some packages

Since 2010, Cruz Language Academy has been helping kids, teens, and adults to learn Spanish through one-on-one and group formats. Teachers at Cruz Language Academy, including Mrs. Yipsy De Armas, Ms. Ivanna Castro, and Mrs. Daniela Rodriguez, are bilingual native Spanish speakers who hold Bachelor’s or Master’s degrees in Spanish or Education, have teaching credentials from accredited universities in the USA, Latin America, and Spain, and have 15–20+ years of experience. The teacher for the kids/teens package is a bilingual, native Spanish-speaking teacher with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Spanish and 15+ years of experience, and Luis serves as both an instructor at Cruz Language Academy and the manager of the Kiddos Lingua program.

Cruz Language Academy states that its teaching methods focus on practicing Spanish from day one using experiential methodology and the communicative approach, with attention to listening, reading comprehension, writing, speaking, and Spanish grammar. The program offers Spanish literature courses that include works by world-class, renowned authors and Nobel Prize and Cervantes Prize laureates. Teachers provide a variety of materials free of charge, such as textbooks, workbooks, bilingual dictionaries, and online resources per session, and some packages include extra activities for oral and written communication.

Cruz Language Academy is an approved vendor for charter schools including Mission Vista Academy, Pacific Coast Academy, Cabrillo Point Academy, iLEAD, Sage Oak, and others, and its services for homeschooled charter school students are non-sectarian and non-religious. Kiddos Lingua is a Spanish class for TK to 5th grade students, with space in the Kiddos Lingua virtual program limited to a daily enrollment of 5 schoolchildren and the Spanish after school program class group limited to 30 students in some descriptions and up to 60 kids in others.
