About
The Shasta County 4-H Youth Development Program includes activities such as clubs, projects and enrollment, fairs, YQCA, record books, scholarships and loans, training, and youth leadership opportunities. The program also offers a Pollination Garden service learning project and a “Spring into Nature” Cloverbud meeting, and it maintains a Calendar 2025-26 Member Events along with county leadership and town hall meetings.

The mission of 4-H is to help young people develop their potential by encouraging them to participate in practical real-life experiences so they can lead satisfying lives as responsible, self-directed members of society. The program uses the 4-H Creed, the 4-H Pledge, and the 4-H Motto, “To Make The Best Better,” and its emblem is a green four-leaf clover with a white “H” on each leaf representing Head, Heart, Hands, and Health; the green color symbolizes growth and youth, and the white H’s represent sincerity and honesty. Cloverbuds in this program are members ages 5–8 years old. UC Cooperative Extension Shasta County, which includes this 4-H program, works with farmers, families, and youth through hands-on education, applied research, and local partnerships to support agriculture, smart water use, wildfire readiness, natural resource stewardship, and health through nutrition, active living, and youth programs like 4-H and Master Gardeners.
