About
The Shasta County 4-H Youth Development Program includes activities such as Record Books, Inter-Mountain Large Animal Field Day, Junior Ambassador Applications, and County Level Record Book Judging. The program uses the 4-H Creed, the 4-H Pledge, and the 4-H Motto, “To Make The Best Better.” The 4-H emblem is a four-leaf clover with an “H” on each leaf representing Head, Heart, Hands, and Health, with a green clover symbolizing growth and youth and white H’s representing sincerity and honesty.
The mission of 4-H is to help young people develop their potential by encouraging them to participate in practical real-life experiences, with the goal that members are better able to lead satisfying lives as responsible, self-directed members of society.
The Shasta County 4-H Youth Development Program is part of UC Cooperative Extension Shasta County, which works with farmers, families, and youth to turn University of California research into practical solutions. The local team supports agriculture, promotes smart water use and wildfire readiness, stewards natural resources, and strengthens health through nutrition, active living, and youth programs such as 4-H and Master Gardeners through hands-on education, applied research, and local partnerships.
