About
Play-Well TEKnologies LEGO-Inspired Engineering Programs offers project-based activities where students use LEGO materials to build projects inspired by cool machines and engineering and architectural projects using LEGO parts. Participants take part in STEM + Minecraft using LEGO materials, including activities such as building a base, crafting tools, using a Minecart to harvest raw resources, and battling to stop the Ender Dragon from ending the world. During these projects, students apply real-world concepts in physics, engineering, and architecture while solving real-world engineering challenges that explore these concepts.
• Ages: 5–14 years old
• Schedule: Full-day camp, August 5th–9th, 2024, Monday–Friday, 9:00am–4:00pm
Play-Well TEKnologies provides project-based programs designed to teach principles and methods of engineering to children ages 5–14 using LEGO, with a goal of fostering a greater appreciation of how things work and encouraging inquisitiveness, self-reliance, and self-confidence in children. The curriculum is designed by engineers and utilizes over 20,000 pieces of LEGO for each class, giving students access to tens of thousands of LEGO parts to use in creating their engineering projects. Students are introduced to engineering terminology that they are encouraged to use throughout the class, and the curriculum is flexible, ever evolving, and rotates projects seasonally, with instructors offering advanced challenges and modifications for any model and adjusting to the interests and experience level of the students. Play-Well has been growing future engineers since 1997 and offers LEGO-inspired engineering classes for kids in grades K–8 nationwide, and these programs are not authorized, sponsored, or endorsed by the LEGO Group.
Participants do not take any of the LEGO materials home with them. Parents are encouraged to provide a peanut-free snack, as Play-Well does not provide snack, and Play-Well is not responsible for any lost or broken devices that children bring to take pictures. Parents are encouraged to visit the Materials page on the Play-Well website to learn more about some of the parts used in the programs and where to find them for purchase, and Play-Well does not sell the LEGO parts used in summer camps and classes. For parents of children allergic to peanuts, Play-Well cannot guarantee that LEGO pieces in their kits are completely free of peanut oils.
