About

City of Richmond Swim Lessons and Lifeguard Programs offers swim lessons, adapted swim, and lifeguard programs. The program uses the Lifesaving Society’s Swim for Life program for lessons, following a transition from the Canadian Red Cross Swim Kids program that took effect on January 1, 2023. The Swim Lesson Transition Chart shows which Swim for Life level swimmers move into based on their current or previous Swim Kids level.

• Ages: 0–18 years old

Children and adults must have the required pre-requisite in order to register into swim levels. Children and adults can only be registered in a class with a start date that is after the last day of the class they are already registered in, and registrations that do not follow this rule are cancelled. Adapted Swim - Child provides modified swimming techniques that match the abilities of individuals with cognitive or physical limitations, has a maximum of five students per course, and usually includes volunteers in addition to the teacher.
