Adventure Recreation’s mission is to empower children to grow physically and emotionally by building their confidence one skill at a time through Tumble & Warrior Class, camps, open gyms, day camps, Micro-School, Kids Night Out, and related programs in a stated safe and welcoming environment for kids of all ages and abilities. The program highlights a focus on confidence, community, creativity, progression, leadership, and fun, and includes a Micro-School and an alternative elementary school program for first through sixth grade that was developed during Covid by Coach Andrea.
Coach Andrea graduated from Humboldt State University in 2008 with a Bachelor’s in Recreation Administration and a Minor in Business, previously bought and operated Athletics Unlimited for five years, ran toddler programs, gymnastics, and Ninja Warrior from 2012 to 2017, focused on recreational gymnastics and Ninja Warrior from 2017, started an Xcel team in 2023, and moved the program into SoMo Village in 2025. The coaching team includes Coach Andrea, Coach Laini, Coach Ella, Coach Rayan, Coach Emily, Coach Janessa, Coach Annie, Coach Makena, Coach Jett, Coach Alia, Coach Sydney, Coach Becca, Coach Tanner, Coach Savannah, Coach Aya, Coach Josie, and Coach Faith, with noted backgrounds such as Xcel Platinum gymnastics and Diving for Coach Laini, Junior Olympics Level 10 competition for Coach Ella, years of Martial Arts experience for Coach Rayan, and long-time gym involvement for Coach Makena. The program notes that children must be potty trained and at least 4 years old to be dropped off for drop-off programs, that parents are welcome to stay and watch any programs, and that children 3 and under should be accompanied by an adult.
Adventure Recreation describes a community vibe and a sense of belonging and camaraderie among staff, students, and families. One parent testimonial states that a daughter has grown up with Adventure Recreation, feels supported and challenged by the coaching staff, and that the family appreciates flexible classes during other sports seasons. Another parent notes that three children have attended for years for tumble classes, ninja classes, explore time, and summer camps, that the children enjoy the coaches, and that overlapping class times for siblings have been helpful.
