Adventure Recreation’s mission is to empower children to grow physically and emotionally by building their confidence one skill at a time. Programs include Tumble & Warrior Class, camps, open gyms, day camps, a micro-school, Kids Night Out, Adaptive Ninja with small class sizes, and Homeschool Days where children 4 years and older can be dropped off for curriculum support, PE, art, and science experiments. For drop-off programs, children are asked to be potty trained and at least 4 years old, and children 3 and under should be accompanied by an adult, though parents are welcome to stay and watch any program. Parents are invited to enjoy nearby businesses such as Old Caz Brewery or SOMOfit while children attend certain programs.

Adventure Recreation is led by Coach Andrea, an entrepreneur, coach, and community spokesperson who is the owner and operator. Coach Andrea graduated from Humboldt State University in 2008 with a Bachelor’s in Recreation Administration and a Minor in Business, competed in the Junior Olympic program for a few years, bought Athletics Unlimited at age 26 and operated it for five years, and from 2012 to 2017 operated toddler programs, gymnastics, and Ninja Warrior before focusing more on recreational gymnastics and Ninja Warrior from 2017. She started an Xcel team in 2023 to allow athletes to compete without the extra pressure and time of a Junior Olympic program, led and developed an alternative elementary school program for first through sixth grade during Covid, and moved programs into SOMO Village in 2025. The coaching staff includes Coach Laini, who competed as an Xcel Platinum gymnast; Coach Ella, who competed at a high level of Junior Olympics Level 10; Coach Rayan, who has years of martial arts experience; and Coach Aya, who loves wrestling and soccer and is a Real Madrid fan.

According to one parent, “My daughter has grown up with Adventure Recreation. She feels supported and challenged by the great coaching staff. We love the flexibility of classes when our schedules are busy during other sports seasons. Highly recommend for kids that love to tumble and want to learn to do skills properly!” (A. McCall). Another parent shared, “Our three children have been going to Adventure Rec for years. We’ve done it all—tumble classes, ninja classes, explore time, summer camps, etc. and my kids can’t get enough. Their coaches are super friendly and fun. I especially appreciate that they have enough class time offerings to overlap my children’s different classes on the same hour. Highly recommend.” (A. Hillstead).
