About
Classical and Contemporary Dance offers ballet training along with Children’s Tap, Hip Hop, Teen/Adult Contemporary, and Adult Beginning Ballet classes. Students rehearse and perform full length story ballets, including Nutcracker each December and an original story ballet each June, choreographed by founder and director Tamara Grose. All students at CCD are invited to audition and perform in these productions.

Classical and Contemporary Dance (CCD) opened in 2009. The program is founded and directed by Tamara Grose, who also serves as instructor and choreographer for Classical and Contemporary Dance / CCD ballet school. Tamara Grose earned a B.F.A. from North Carolina School of the Performing Arts, accepted a full scholarship to Harkness in New York City, and holds certifications in Yoga and Massage Therapy. Ballet teacher Anna Bribiescas received extensive ballet teacher’s training through the internationally-renowned Royal Academy of Dance, headquartered in London, England, and teaches ballet at CCD.
The mission of Classical and Contemporary Dance is to offer high-quality ballet training in a nurturing, non-judgmental environment and to provide a supportive and non-judgemental environment for dance students. Instructors at CCD use a teaching philosophy rooted in patience, understanding, guidance and structure using the art of discipline, and the style of teaching emphasizes body awareness, alignment, strength, stamina, grace and posture. CCD instructors state that they strive to instill in students the qualities of a dancer and encourage students to use these disciplines in their daily lives. CCD describes its studio as a home away from home for dancers who spend much of their lives pursuing the art of dance and as a place for accomplished dancers to display their talents, welcoming both recreational dancers and pre professional adult dancers.
New classes are described as coming soon, including Children’s Tap and Hip Hop, Teen/Adult Contemporary, and more Adult Beginning Ballet classes. CCD performs two full length story ballets annually, choreographed by Tamara Grose. CCD notes that all students are invited to audition and perform. CCD states that it opens its doors to “performance passion.”
Founder Tamara Grose toured with NCSA’s affiliated touring company, performing in 36 of the United States and working with the Artist in the Schools Residency program. The Royal Academy of Dance is cited as the source of extensive ballet teacher’s training for Anna Bribiescas. CCD materials carry a copyright notice for 2009–2024.
