Gracie Barra Kids (GBK) introduces children to Jiu-Jitsu in age-appropriate classes. The program focuses on self-defence, takedowns, and ground techniques, and it is tailored to a child’s age and developmental stage.

  • Jiu-Jitsu Fundamentals (GB1) — Beginners · Foundation program offering structured training in self-defence, core techniques, and the philosophy of Gracie Barra.
  • Advanced Jiu-Jitsu (GB2) — Students with at least 3 stripes on a white belt · Builds on fundamentals with advanced techniques, complex drills, No-Gi training, and live sessions.
  • Expert Jiu-Jitsu (GB3) — Blue belts and above · Ultimate level of training at a GB school; increases drill complexity and training intensity.
  • Jiu-Jitsu for Women (GBF) — Beginners to experienced practitioners · Women-only program in a safe, welcoming, and empowering environment.

About the provider

Gracie Barra was founded in 1986 by Master Carlos Gracie Jr. Its mission statement is "Teach Jiu-Jitsu for Everyone." The organization says it has over 1,000 schools worldwide, more than 150,000 students worldwide, numerous World Champions, and more than 2,000 certified instructors each year. It also says it is committed to positively changing people’s lives through Jiu-Jitsu and emphasizes Brotherhood, Integrity, and Development.

GBK is tailored to a child’s age and developmental stage; recommended training frequency is 2 times per week; children as young as 3.5 years old can start. GBF is women-only and designed for all levels. Structured curriculum emphasizes safety and respectful partner interaction.
