Brush of Creativity has been serving the Greater Sacramento CA Region for over 30 years. The lead artist and founder is Deidre Trudeau, who is described as a lead artist extraordinaire. The program states that it provides creative teaching processes in visual fine art, including painting, drawing, and mixed-media with color theory, emotional association, and art-science as part of a holistic approach to creative expression and learning. The team is licensed, insured, drug tested, and livescanned, and several members of the art team are veterans or veteran-supportive instructors. Many concepts are custom created for each art student based on their interests and skill level, including neurodivergent individuals, and all efforts are unique, custom created, and follow standard art practices.
Brush of Creativity offers highly engaging live lessons and paint-along parties and can handle both large and small events, from 15–75 participants, and most 150+ with special handling and consideration. The art studio space is described as large enough for 8 painters or a special date night for two, and the program is also 100% mobile and brings the art activities to participants. Brush of Creativity works with individuals, families, corporate teams, senior centers, community organizations, and city and county programs, including special senior, weekend, and afterschool youth programs, as well as veteran programs such as California Veterans in the Arts, Wounded Warriors, and VAP.
Parent and adult testimonials describe the classes as fun, creative, and full of variety, and they highlight Deidre’s patient teaching methods and the impact of the classes on how participants look at the world. One participant reports keeping notes, pictures, and doodles of inspiration after class, and others describe leaving class with many ideas and a different way of seeing things.
