California Waterfowl Education Programs

California Waterfowl Education Programs offers Kids Camps & Outdoor Education for ages 10 to 16, with an overnight camp for new and beginning waterfowl hunters. Activities include calling, decoy spreads, shot selection, and waterfowl ID. The program also offers Summer Camps that teach the nuts and bolts of waterfowl hunting and conservation, Educational Resources with worksheets, lessons, and presentations, Junior Duck Stamp for K-12 students to enter waterfowl artwork, and Presentations with specimens and fun activities.

Programs

• Kids Camps & Outdoor Education — 10-16 · Overnight camp for new and beginning waterfowl hunters with skills including calling, decoy spreads, shot selection, waterfowl ID, and more.
• Summer Camps — Camps that teach aspiring hunters the nuts and bolts of waterfowl hunting and conservation. Many include Hunter Education so campers can earn their Hunter Ed certificate.
• Educational Resources — Pre-K-12 · Worksheets, lessons, and presentations for parents, teachers, tutors, and childcare providers; some require access to the outdoors, others can be done in the home.
• Scholarships — Scholarships to get youth into the field and support educational goals.
• College Camps — Held each year at Bird Haven Ranch in the Upper Butte Basin and designed to bridge the gap between the classroom and the active management of waterfowl populations.
• Junior Duck Stamp — K-12 · Annual art contest where students can enter waterfowl artwork into the Junior Duck Stamp Contest.
• Presentations — Presentations curated to fit students' curriculum and standards; students learn about waterfowl through specimens and fun activities.

About the provider

California Waterfowl was founded in 1945 as the Duck Hunters Association of California. In 1991, California Waterfowl began introducing children to hunting and the outdoors through educational outreach. The organization is committed to educating the public about the importance of waterfowl and wetland habitats, and the creatures that rely on them.
