International Dance Arts Collective

International Dance Arts Collective offers semester-based classes in Foundations Collective, Elementary Collective 1, Elementary Collective 2 & 3, Junior Collective A & B, Senior Collective, Novice Clogging, Beginner Clogging, Beginner/Intermediate Clogging, Global Tots, Folk Choir, and African Drum & Dance. The program states that all classes are held at Opal Studios and that some classes require an end-of-semester show or additional rehearsals.

• Elementary Collective 2 & 3 — 9-12 · Tues 5–6:20 PM · Semester-long; community & end-of-semester shows required; instructor permission required.
• Junior Collective A & B — 10-16 · Tue 4–5:20 PM (B), Tue 5–6:30 PM (A) · Semester-long; community & end-of-semester shows required; intermediate level recommended; instructor approval required for Junior A.
• Senior Collective — 13-18 · Wed 4:00–5:45 PM; additional Fri/Sat rehearsals · Semester-long; community & end-of-semester shows required; instructor approval required; tour eligible after Fall & Spring if requirements are met.
• Novice Clogging — 6-10 · Wed 4–4:45 PM · Semester-long; end-of-semester show required; no approval/prereq required.
• Beginner Clogging — 7-14 · Wed 4:45–5:35 PM · Semester-long; end-of-semester show required; no approval/prereq required.
• Beginner/Intermediate Clogging — 10-18 · Wed 5:35–6:30 PM · Semester-long; end-of-semester show required; at least 2 semesters of clogging required.
• Global Tots — 3-4 · Listed in semester classes.
• Folk Choir — 7-12 · Listed in semester classes.
• African Drum & Dance — Listed in semester classes.

About the provider

International Dance Arts Collective was founded by Alexandra Shadle in 2021. Its stated mission is to foster peace, love, and appreciation of all cultures and people within the local community and beyond through education and performance opportunities for children and youth through world, cultural, and historical dance and music. The organization is listed as a 501(c)3 nonprofit, a member of CIOFF USA and the CIOFF International community, and a 2025 ACPC grant recipient.

Performance-based classes expect attendance at every weekly rehearsal and the end-of-semester performance or event. Known rehearsal conflicts must be disclosed at the beginning of a semester within the first month. If a performer exceeds 2 absences in a semester, they may lose placement in the performance piece. Families are required to do volunteer jobs in spring and fall semesters. Classes are age and level based; dancers with significant experience may not need to start in foundations, and junior/senior collective and intermediate/advanced clogging classes require educator approval.
