Skatetown Youth Camps, Clinics & Classes offers public session skating, Learn to Skate classes, Learn to Play Hockey classes, figure skating camps including a Freestyle Figure Skating Camp, and summer camps. The program also includes Youth Hockey Camp, Figure Skating Camp, youth hockey classes and leagues, drop-in hockey, sticktimes, and adult skills & drills. Additional activities at the same facility include adult hockey classes and leagues, curling lessons and leagues, broomball, birthday parties, and school field trips.
• Ages: 5–17 years old
• Schedule: Special summer weekday public skating sessions run Monday–Thursday from 3–5pm between June 8 and August 7, 2026, with additional public sessions offered Monday–Friday from 12:15–1:15pm and Friday–Saturday from 7–9pm; Youth Hockey Camps are scheduled for June 8–12, 2026 and July 20–24, 2026, and a Figure Skating Camp is scheduled for June 22–27, 2026.
Skatetown Youth Camps, Clinics & Classes takes place in a 65,000 square foot ice arena facility that includes two NHL-sized indoor rinks open year round, 8 locker rooms, a full-service café with TVs showing sports, a skate rental department, a retail ProShop, special party rooms, rental skating aids, and coin-operated lockers for shoes and valuables. The program operates in a facility that offers laser light shows during public sessions, a free skating lesson during public sessions, skate helper rentals, free parking, a full-service hockey and skating ProShop, and special provisions for guests with disabilities. The arena is home to the Capital City Figure Skating Club, the Capital Thunder Youth Hockey Program, the Sacramento Firefighter’s Hockey Club, the Hockey Belongs 2 Everyone non-profit, and the Wine Country Curling Club. Skatetown’s mission states that it is all about fun and excitement and is committed to providing a safe, clean, fun facility where families and friends can commune. Leadership roles connected with the programs and facility include Skating Director Donna Smith, Youth Hockey Director Jason Davis, Hockey Director Brett Slavensky, Guest Service Manager Victoria Camejo Carrillo, Café Manager Jessica Farfan, Marketing Manager Susan Sweetser, and ProShop Manager Matt Litteral. Skatetown opened to the public in 1997, added a second NHL-sized rink in 1999, hosted its 1,000,000th public skating guest in 2009, opened its HolidayOutdoorRink in 2013, and celebrated 25 years in business in December 2022. The facility received Energy Users News’ 1999 Building Award (Commercial) for its innovative energy and environmentally conscious construction process.
