Buzzardball runs weekly summer basketball camps for boys and girls in grades K–8, with sessions divided into MINI (Pre-K through 3rd Grade), BIG KIDS (4th–8th Grade), and ALL GIRLS (girls in grades K–8). The week follows a set structure: Monday features introductions, warm-ups, skill work using games, a 30-second jump rope segment, distribution of camp t-shirts and cinch sacks, and 3 vs. 3 scrimmages using Buzzardball rules. Tuesday is Photo Day with more skill games such as Solar System, Around the World, and Texas Shootout, a 60-second jump rope segment, Hot Corners, and 4 vs. 4 scrimmages. Wednesday includes All-Star roster announcements, team competitions, sign-ups and practice for All-Star events, and team scrimmages. All-Star Thursday focuses on individual events (FREE THROW, HOW MANY, JUMP ROPE, LIGHTNING, BACK + FORTH, 2-BALL, RAPID FIRE, 3-POINT COMPETITION), team events (4-3-2-1), and All-Star scrimmages, with photos available for campers to take home. All-Star Friday features a basketball tournament where all teams are guaranteed two games, with specific formats for 6-team and 4-team brackets, followed by post-game festivities that include Yo-Yo Yogurt for all campers.

Registration includes a traditional Buzzardball T-shirt with the 2026 Theme Year #30 celebrating Steph Curry of the Golden State Warriors, a camp photo (group, individual, friends, sibling), daily snacks including red licorice, and participation in All-Star Thursday and Friday festivities. All campers receive a camp t-shirt and cinch sack on Monday, and for children attending both morning and afternoon sessions, parents send a lunch for the hour break, during which coaches eat with the kids. Instagram Story updates are posted during camp, Buzzardball headbands are given to All-Star event winners, and Big Kids Camps feature Fathead giveaways of some of the top players in the NBA. Hall of Fame introductions are held for graduating 8th graders who have attended Buzzardball over their childhood, and Buzzardball Hall of Fame inductions have included Aidan Whalen, George Zimmerman, Ashley DuFosee, Savannah DuFosee, and Wyatt Alpha.

Buzzardball describes itself as “Sacramento's Complete Youth Basketball Experience” and states that participants learn about sportsmanship, gamesmanship, respect, being a good teammate, and being a leader, with the motto: “Be a Good Sport Play Hard Have Fun And always remember ... IT'S JUST A GAME!” The camp notes that it is available for boys and girls of all levels in a safe and fun environment and that younger campers learn basics while older kids enhance skills and can serve as mentors. MINI camp is built around everything being fun and safe for younger campers, BIG KIDS week is described as for more serious basketball players with individual and team competitions and mini tournaments, and ALL GIRLS week is described as previously the most popular camp during the summer.

Buzzardball started in 1994 as a small summer basketball program at St. Michael's in Carmichael with 30 kids over a four-week period, later moving to Arden Church of the Nazarene in 1997 and back to St. Michael's and its new gym in 2008. The camp ran each summer for 24 straight years until the pandemic, held a Zoom camp in 2020, and in 2021 moved to Sport Courts Fitness and celebrated its 25th anniversary with 750 kids participating. Recent summer camp stats include 20 camps and 911 kids in 2022, and the program notes 27 years and running, with just over 900 campers attending in a recent summer and well over 1000 kids expected in 2023. Buzzardball also runs a Winter League where championships for 3rd–8th graders are played at Golden One Center, home of the Sacramento Kings.

The leadership team includes Steve Buzzard as Director and Toph and Max Buzzard as Assistant Directors. Steve Buzzard is entering his 28th year as director of Buzzardball's Summer Hoop Camp. Toph Buzzard graduated from Jesuit High School in 2014 and Azusa Pacific in 2018 and serves as PK–4th Grade P.E. teacher, intramural director, and assistant athletic director at St. Michael's. Max Buzzard has been on the coaching staff for 11 years, was a camper since age five, and graduated from Granite Bay High School and attended Oregon State. Buzzardball notes partnerships with the Sacramento Kings and Jesuit High School and features kids from the Greater Sacramento area and outlying areas including Folsom, Davis, Elk Grove, Roseville, and Rocklin.

Parent and participant feedback includes a parent from the Shoffner family describing a TK-age camper’s experience with Coach Jack, the camp’s communication, the balance of drills with fun and focus, hearing campers’ names over the microphone, life lessons such as team camaraderie and taking turns, and enthusiasm about camp swag like a croc charm. Participant and coach Jake Harouni describes Buzzardball as a friendly and welcoming environment and notes that his first time playing organized basketball was in Buzzardball, where he built fundamentals of the game while having a good time.
