About
NorCal Arts offers summer camp sessions where campers take part in drama, dance, singing, improvisation, creative writing, and related activities. Each summer camp session explores a different theme, and the songs and scripts that students learn change each week so campers can attend multiple sessions and have a different experience each time. Campers also have access to professional training and rehearsals connected to the NorCal Arts Junior Theater Festival Company’s presentation of Mean Girls Jr. and related festival activities.
• Ages: 13–18 years old
• Schedule: Weekly summer camp sessions from June 15th–August 7th, 2026
• Price: Cost: $425 (Price includes: quality instruction by professional staff, Festival registration for all 3 days, festival T-Shirt, festival workshops, concerts, our adjudication, and any other festival related costs.)
NorCal Arts also runs the Performing Arts Corps, a 9‑month holistic and extensive actor training program for students in grades 7–12 who are interested in learning all aspects of professional theater and film. Students in the Performing Arts Corps take part in business and life skills training offered through the Leadership Institute and the College & Career Counseling programs. The program’s mission statement is “Building bridges to inspire the artists of tomorrow.”
NorCal Arts is a JUNIOR THEATER FESTIVAL COMPANY and participates in the Junior Theater Festival (JTF), which is described as the world’s biggest and best celebration of young people performing musical theater. JTF brings together student musical theater troupes from around the world, and each troupe performs fifteen minutes from a Broadway Junior show for adjudication by a panel of musical theater experts. NorCal Arts students prepare through professional training and rehearsals, perform at the Junior Theater Festival in Sacramento, attend workshops with Broadway professionals, and have networking time with young performers from around the world.
Auditions for the Junior Theater Festival Company are scheduled for October 16th and 17th from 4:30–7:00 pm. The rehearsal schedule includes Fridays from 4:30–6:00 pm in December; during the last two weeks of January, rehearsals run Tuesday through Friday from 4:30–7:30 pm and Saturdays from 2:00–5:00 pm; and during the first week of February, rehearsals run Monday through Thursday from 4:30–7:30 pm. The Junior Theater Festival dates are February 6th–8th, 2026.
NorCal Arts notes its community involvement with the statement, “Thank you to all our cherished partners.” Parent and student feedback includes comments such as a parent thanking the program for support and encouragement around a “walk-in” audition at Unifieds, and a student thanking the program “for fostering an inclusive program that gave so many of us a chance to use our voices and fall in love with our craft” and stating that the program has been inspiring and educational.
