READ Learning Center is the sister company of READ Academy of Sacramento, which is described as a Monday–Thursday private school and a WASC-accredited sister program for students who need full-time specialized instruction, with a full-time private program available for grades 2nd–12th. Services are available for both homeschool and public or private school families, and progress is tracked and reported via Gradelink throughout the year. The program offers a comprehensive dyslexia assessment that uses developmental history, educational records, and current standardized assessments, and can also assess for dysgraphia and dyscalculia upon request.

Every teacher at READ Learning Center holds explicit coursework in their subject area and receives ongoing mentorship in structured literacy, the Science of Reading, the Science of Writing, and multisensory instruction. The program is led by Founder and Program Director Dr. Leah Skinner, ED.D., who is a Certified Dyslexia Therapist and Certified Special Education Advocate with a Doctor of Education in Reading, Literacy, and Assessment and a Master of Education in Dyslexia Specialization, and who brings over 20 years of experience in structured literacy and dyslexia intervention. The mission of READ Learning Center and READ Academy of Sacramento is to serve students who learn differently and to empower students with learning disabilities including dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, ADHD, and difficulties with executive function.

The program includes a 4-week summer intensive that combines structured Orton-Gillingham literacy instruction with multisensory math and writing plus fun and engaging activities. A placement assessment is used to create a personalized plan for students and to provide structured, evidence-based remediation. A parent testimonial states, “After two months at READ, my daughter went from hating reading to asking for chapter books at bedtime. I wish we’d found them sooner.” The program features the quote, “If a child can't learn the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way they learn.” — Ignacio Estrada.
