Sacramento Young Birders Club

Sacramento Young Birders Club includes activities such as Family Friendly Field Trips, Young Birders Club field trips like Migratory Shorebird Day, and seasonal bat tours in the summer. Participants can join Nature Walks, Ducks in Scopes, Sandhill Crane viewing trips, and public tours at the Davis Wetlands and the Yolo Bypass Wildlife Area. The program also connects families with events and resources such as CA Duck Days and downloadable bird illustrations to color and crosswords from ColorBird.org.

Sacramento Young Birders Club is part of the Sacramento Audubon Society, whose mission is to promote the protection and scientific study of wild birds, foster the enjoyment and appreciation of wild birds through community outreach, encourage, support, and provide environmental educational opportunities, and advocate for the conservation of open space in the Sacramento region. Sacramento Audubon Society has been active since 1950 and was incorporated on March 12, 1963 as a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization. The Society’s leadership includes President Cliff Feldheim, Treasurer Eric Johnson, Recording Secretary Carla Resnick (interim), Corresponding Secretary Nancy Gronert, Directors Nicole Barden, Taylor Florence, and Katie Wong, Student Board Member Mackenzie Hollender, and Past-President Paul Miller, with the Vice President and one Director positions currently open. Sacramento Audubon Society works with organizations such as Effie Yeaw Nature Center, Habitat 2020/ECOS, Sacramento Valley Conservancy, Save the American River Association, National Audubon Society, Audubon California, Western Field Ornithologists, Central Valley Bird Club, American River Parkway Foundation, American River Natural History Association, Environmental Council of Sacramento, Friends of the Swainson’s Hawk, The Nature Conservancy, Burrowing Owl Preservation Society, and the Yolo Basin Foundation.
