Tokon Martial Arts offers athletics, martial arts, traditional Shotokan Karate, self-defense, gymnastic activities, crafting, yoga, and High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT). Tokon Martial Arts is led by head instructor and owner Sensei Marcus Hinschberger and co-owner Sensei Christina Hinschberger, with instruction and support from Sempai Maryann Salvador, Sempai Brad Quon, Sempai Timmy (Timothy) Lockwood, and Sempai Maya Bustamante. Sensei Marcus Hinschberger has over 35 years of experience in traditional Japanese Karate, holds 6th-degree black belts with both the International KarateCoaching Federation (IKCF) and the Japan Karate Association (JKA) and the DJKB (JKA Germany), founded www.karatecoaching.com, has participated in various national and international karate championships, was ranked as a Top-3 DJKB Shotokan Karate fighter in 2000, is a certified personal trainer with the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), is certified in Functional Movement Screening (FMS), and is a Level 1 athletic performance coach with the Athletes Performance Center (EXXOS) in Phoenix. Sensei Christina Hinschberger is a 6th-degree black belt with the IKCF and a 6th-degree black belt with the ISKF, has been practicing Shotokan karate for over 35 years, was part of the International Shotokan Karate Federation (ISKF) national team representing the United States in various international tournaments, has been teaching Shotokan karate since she was 16 years old, is a California Multiple Subject Credentialed teacher, a Certified Personal Trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine, and a Certified Yoga Instructor through Yoga Alliance. Sempai Maryann Salvador is a 4th-degree black belt with the International Shotokan Karate Federation (ISKF) and a 4th-degree black belt with the IKCF; Sempai Brad Quon is a 3rd-degree black belt with the IKCF; Sempai Timmy Lockwood is a 2nd-degree black belt with the IKCF; and Sempai Maya Bustamante is a 2nd-degree black belt with the IKCF and a 1st-degree black belt with the ISKF.
