Kugtar Mixed Martial Arts Academy offers training in MMA, Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ), Tang Soo Do, kickboxing, and self-defense techniques. The academy provides a safe, clean, enjoyable facility where students can learn self-defense techniques as well as respect for one another. Kugtar Mixed Martial Arts allows students to culminate a champions mindset and presents the Kugtar Creed as part of the academy culture.
• Ages: 5–18 years old
• Schedule: Class options are available Monday through Sunday, with daytime and evening hours, including weekday blocks such as 10:30am–12:30pm and 4pm–9pm, and weekend options such as Saturday 10am–1:30pm and Sunday 5pm–7pm.
KUGTAR Mixed Martial Arts Academy has been Monterey County's premier martial arts destination since being established in 1995. The academy was founded by Master Vicente Vanderlipe and is run by the Vanderlipe family, which consists of many champions and black belts in multiple martial arts. The mission statement explains that the academy aims to mold young minds into the best that they can be and encourages everyone that through discipline and determination they can achieve their goals. The mission statement also says that all members are viewed as part of a Kugtar family and are encouraged to support each other both in class and outside the academy, and that belts are not given but earned. The academy offers a wide range of youth and adult classes, family member discounts and class combination packages when enrolling in multiple programs, private lessons, a free trial, and promotes the idea that Kugtar is not just a place, it is a lifestyle, expressed in the phrase “Where Martial Arts isn't a hobby - It's a LIFESTYLE.”
