About

Salinas Regional Soccer Complex Youth & Adult Soccer Programs offers youth soccer leagues, adult soccer leagues, and tournaments. The programs take place within a thriving soccer community and include year-round competition for both youth and adults.

• Ages: 5–18 years old

The programs are developed and managed by the Salinas Regional Sports Authority, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with a community-driven Board of Directors. The Salinas Regional Sports Authority board members have been together since 2014 and hold a 90-year lease on the land, with an initial 50-year term and options for two additional 20-year terms. The leadership team includes General Manager Jonathan De Anda, Facility & Operations Coordinator Edwin Hermosillo, Las REINAS Program Manager Anayeli “Ana” Gutierrez, Director of Soccer Programs & Development Simon Dawkins, Business Development Manager Mayra Gomez, Facility & Event Operations Assistants Marcus McAleavey and Omar Lopez Santos, and Board President Kurt Gollnick along with other named board members. The organization states the mission of the Salinas Regional Soccer Complex as providing a safe, healthy space for fitness, life skills, and athletic development and serving as an economic engine for local businesses and municipalities through soccer.

The complex is described as the Central Coast’s premier destination for youth and adult soccer leagues and tournaments and offers year-round competition in a thriving soccer community. It is a state-of-the-art sports complex that is undergoing a transformational expansion to become the largest sports and recreation facility between San Francisco and Los Angeles, converting previously unusable space into green space. It is described as a beacon of hope for the Salinas Valley, with the mantra “Más Que Fútbol.” The complex is part of a four-phase, community-driven project to provide world-class facilities for athletics of all kinds, recreation opportunities, and community-building public events.

Programs at the complex are described as supporting youth empowerment, encouraging gender equality in sports, and offering safe, inclusive spaces for all. The Las R.E.I.N.A.S Women’s Initiative focuses on elevating women and girls through soccer, health, and community, and provides access to high-quality fields, competitive opportunities, and essential health resources free or at minimal cost. The organization is described as deeply embedded in the Salinas, California region, with leadership, staff, volunteers, and participants predominantly Latinas in the Las R.E.I.N.A.S initiative.

The Salinas Regional Soccer Complex is developed and managed by the Salinas Regional Sports Authority, a non-governmental organization supported by the State of California, Monterey County, and the City of Salinas. The City of Salinas has provided funding for water and utilities since 2018 and regular ongoing support, and Monterey County has contributed nearly $1 million in annual donations since 2019. The organization has worked with Senator Anna Caballero and Assembly Speaker Robert Rivas to secure $6.2 million in funding from the State of California. Program partners explicitly listed include organizations such as Alianza de Futbol, Blue Zones Project – Monterey County, Cal North, NorCal Premier Soccer, San Jose Earthquakes, Monterey Bay FC, local schools and colleges, health organizations, community groups, and multiple local soccer clubs and leagues.
