The Parent Center offers parent and child activity classes and access to an outdoor children’s garden. The program also includes an in-person child birthing class that runs as a 6 week course.

• Ages: 0–5 years old
• Schedule: Staff office open 8:00 am–3:00 pm while school is in session (August–May)

The Parent Center is part of the Parent Education Department at Salinas Adult School. All of the teachers have a bachelor’s degree in education or child development and a California state teaching credential. The leadership team includes Dr. Alexander Kirk (Salinas Adult School Director), Brandy Morrow (Program Specialist & Teacher), Kathryn Gardner (Program Assistant & Teacher), Erica Vargas (Clerk III), Serena Telles-Mercado (Teacher), Stacy Sargenti (Teacher), and Leilani Hernandez-Yañez (Teacher). The Parent Center operates as a cooperative preschool and offers the only nationally accredited preschool in Salinas. It is a branch of the Salinas Union High School District and is part of the Salinas Adult School. The mission of the Parent Education Department at Salinas Adult School is to support and enrich the lives of families in the community by providing a safe and nurturing environment where children can grow and explore, while parents gain evidence-based parenting skills to strengthen their families and build lasting connections.
