Art Abloom

Art Abloom offers a full spectrum art experience that includes drawing, painting, printmaking, clay, sewing, sculpture, collage, and found object assemblage. The studio also hosts parties for adults and children, as well as art walks and monthly art discussions.

• Ages: 0–18 years old
• Schedule: Summer options from June 15 to August 20, Monday–Thursday between 10:00am and 2:00pm, and fall mixed-age classes on selected weekdays and Saturdays

Gabriella Spina Drake founded Art Abloom in Santa Barbara in 1990 and relocated it to San Anselmo in 2002. Art Abloom states that all beings are born creative and describes its environment as creative, nurturing, stimulating, and non-competitive. The program offers group or private classes that emphasize process and describes its focus as inspiring imagination, creativity, and a lifelong love of art, while encouraging student artists ranging from toddlers to adults to embrace an art spirit unique to each person. Art Abloom also describes its events such as parties, art walks, and monthly art discussions as sources of inspiration.

Two quotations are shared as part of the program’s materials: one from Robert Henri (1901) about the development of a child’s sensitive nature and imaginative appreciation, and one from Henry James about art living upon discussion, experiment, curiosity, variety of attempt, and exchange of views.
