Legends Camps

Legends Camps offers summer camps, clinics, and SpeedBall leagues focused on baseball and softball. The program also includes the Legends Coach Academy for coaches who want training in the Legends system.

Legends Camps was founded in 2008 by David Klein, an Experience Designer and Holistic Coach. The stated mission is to inspire children to strive to be the best people and players they can be through fun, memorable, and meaningful baseball and softball experiences. Legends has served thousands of children in California through “fun first” baseball experiences, with over 50 players from Legends moving on to professional baseball. After 13 years of nationally recognized, award-winning baseball camps, Legends partnered with experienced softball coaches to bring the Legends camp system to softball in 2021.

Legends Camps offers baseball, softball, and SpeedBall programs described as the most innovative year-round baseball and softball programs in the world, with flagship camps described as the ultimate baseball and softball adventure. The program includes Legends-themed weeks such as POWER Week inspired by Babe Ruth, GUTS Week inspired by Jackie Robinson, FOCUS Week inspired by Shohei Ohtani, and HUSTLE Week inspired by Willie Mays. SpeedBall combines the high-level training and competition of travel ball with the “fun first” community of Little League, using modern, sped-up rules, new positions every inning, 8–15 at-bats per game, and a format where players never sit the bench. Legends describes a full developmental pathway: First Steps (ages 0–6), Building the Love (ages 6–9), FUNdamentals (ages 9–12), Competitive Edge (ages 12–14), Giving Back (ages 14–18), Collegiate Experience (ages 18–22), and Full Circle in adulthood.

Legends Camps is led by professional coaches who are professionally trained and background checked, and all Legends coaches are trained with positive coaching methodologies. The program uses a detailed life lesson curriculum designed by Positive Coaching Alliance National Double-Goal Coach Award winner David Klein. Legends Camps has been featured by the Positive Coaching Alliance, Thrive Global, and the San Jose Mercury News, and is described as enthusiastically rated on Google and Yelp by hundreds of families. The organization offers a comprehensive certification program for coaches filled with drills, games, and resources, as well as opportunities to start a Legends Franchise or SpeedBall League nationwide.

Program features include proven skill-building drills and games, exclusive skill games and challenges, and a positive growth mindset-oriented coaching approach focused on effort over outcome. Operational details include an exclusive check-in and check-out system and a custom QR code dropoff and pickup system to aid in camper safety, along with options to update pickup preferences and special needs online. Families can opt for a custom jersey and hat mailed to the camper’s house when purchasing a gear box. Extras include a pre-camp pump-up Spotify playlist, pre-camp virtual orientation, pre-camp challenges, and campers returning home with prizes.
