Ross Valley Youth Soccer Club

Ross Valley Youth Soccer Club offers both recreational soccer and competitive soccer for kids and teens. Recreational soccer focuses on the development of soccer skills, enjoyment of the sport, and participation of all players regardless of skill, with games played locally and a reduced time commitment. Competitive soccer is for advanced players, with a focus on skill refinement and an emphasis on competitive play, and players must try out to get on a team in the competitive league.

• Ages: 8–18 years old

Recreational and competitive teams are organized in two-year age bands based on the player’s grade at the beginning of the season, including U10 (3rd/4th grade in fall), U12 (5th/6th grade in fall), U14 (7th/8th grade in fall), U16 (9th/10th grade in fall), and U19 (11th/12th grade in fall). U10 games are 50 minutes with a 10-minute halftime, U12 games are 60 minutes with a 10-minute halftime, U14 games are 70 minutes with a 10-minute halftime, U16 games are 80 minutes with a 10-minute halftime, and U18 games are 90 minutes with a 10-minute halftime. U10 teams play 7 per side with 11–12 players per team, U12 teams play 9 per side with 13–14 players per team, and U14 and older teams play 11 per side with 16–18 players per team. Teams are selected after an initial assessment presided over by the Director of Coaching, Age Group Coordinators, and Coaches. The registration fee covers field usage, trainers, referees, insurance, a jersey, equipment, and administrative costs.

The club supplies team jerseys, soccer socks, and soccer balls, and families provide soccer shorts, shin guards worn under the socks, and soccer (not baseball) cleats. Jewelry, watches, wristbands, earrings, casts, or metal/air splints are strictly prohibited by Ross Valley Youth Soccer Club regulations. Ross Valley is associated with the MarinFC competitive club, Marin FC Alliance, and competitive soccer is played within and beyond Marin County. The league actively seeks volunteers in various roles, including Coaches, Assistant Coaches, Age Group Coordinators, School Coordinators, Team Managers, Field Liners, and other positions needed to run the league.
