Ross Valley Youth Soccer Club

Ross Valley Youth Soccer Club offers both recreational soccer and competitive soccer for youth players. Recreational soccer is focused on the development of soccer skills, enjoyment of the sport and the participation of all players regardless of skill. Competitive soccer is for advanced players with a focus on skill refinement and an emphasis on competitive play, and players must try out to get on a team in the competitive league.

• Ages: 8–13 years old

Age group divisions are organized in two-year bands based on grade at the beginning of the season, including U10 for 3rd and 4th grade in the fall, U12 for 5th and 6th grade in the fall, and U14 for 7th and 8th grade in the fall. U10 teams play 7 per side with 11–12 players per team, U12 teams play 9 per side with 13–14 players per team, and U14 and older teams play 11 per side with 16–18 players per team. U10 games are 50 minutes with a 10 minute halftime, U12 games are 60 minutes with a 10 minute halftime, U14 games are 70 minutes with a 10 minute halftime, U16 games are 80 minutes with a 10 minute halftime, and U18 games are 90 minutes with a 10 minute halftime. Recreational soccer is lower pressure with games played locally and generally has a reduced time commitment. Ross Valley is associated with the MarinFC competitive club. Registration fees cover field usage, trainers, referees, insurance, a jersey, equipment and administrative costs. The club supplies team jerseys, soccer socks and soccer balls, and each player also needs soccer shorts, shin guards worn under the socks, and soccer (not baseball) cleats. Jewelry, watches, wristbands, earrings, casts or metal/air splints are strictly prohibited by RVYSC regulations. Teams are selected after an initial assessment presided over by the Director of Coaching, Age Group Coordinators and Coaches. Volunteers are sought in roles such as coaches, assistant coaches, age group coordinators, school coordinators, team managers and field liners.
