The Image Flow Photography Workshops offers photography education through specific workshops such as Camera Basics, Beyond the Basics, Personal Project Workshop, Photography Basics, Portrait Photography, Encaustics Workshop, The Expressive Landscape, and Adobe Lightroom Classic. In 2008, Stuart Schwartz founded The Image Flow. The mission of The Image Flow is to celebrate photography in all its forms and to provide a platform for photographers of all levels to create work, exchange ideas, and to innovate the medium of photography. The staff and instructors are described as deeply engaged with photographic practice in their daily lives, and the gallery space exhibits work from domestic and international artists. The Image Flow states that it is a destination for photographers in the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond, both seasoned and emerging, and that it offers photography classes and workshops for adults and kids in Marin County and the San Francisco Bay Area.
The leadership team includes Stuart Schwartz (Founder & Educator); Nathan Lomas (Educator, Gallery & Production Manager); Dean Lipoff (Production & Imaging Associate); Page Sullivan (Front Desk & Digital Media Manager); and Jarod Denmark (Graphic Designer, Client Services). Stuart Schwartz graduated from the Art Center in 1979 and spent 35 years as an advertising photographer in the U.S. and Europe. Nathan Lomas has a BFA from the College of Creative Studies in Detroit and an MFA in Imaging Arts from the Rochester Institute of Technology in New York, is an adjunct professor at the Academy of Art in San Francisco, and owns a photo studio in Alameda specializing in 19th-century tintype photography. Dean Lipoff is a Brooks Institute graduate and has been photographing and retouching images for over 30 years. Page Sonnet Sullivan holds a BFA in Photography and a Concentration in Literary Arts and Studies from Rhode Island School of Design. Jarod Denmark earned a BFA in Art Studio and Art History from San Francisco State University.
The Image Flow states that it remains committed to making photography accessible to the community by providing public exhibitions, free lectures, workshops, rentals, and imaging services. Its printing services include exhibition-quality printing that is described as expertly prepared, a process in which high-quality custom photo printing is a collaboration between artist and printmaker, and a wide selection of archival professional papers.
