PB Surf Shop Surf Camps and Surf Lessons

PB Surf Shop Surf Camps and Surf Lessons offers Summer Surf Camp, Private Surf Lessons, and Group Surf Lessons. Summer Surf Camp includes surfboard or bodyboard use and a wetsuit, with campers grouped by age and ability. Private Surf Lessons are 90 minutes and include equipment, and Group Surf Lessons are 90 minutes with up to five students.

Programs

• Summer Surf Camp — Ages 5+ and Above; FAQ says campers range from 5 to 16, with typical summer camp ages 7-13 · Week of June 1st–August 28th; half-day 9 AM–12 PM or 1 PM–4 PM; full-day 9 AM–4 PM · Instructor-to-camper ratio 1:3. Camp includes surfboard/bodyboard and wetsuit. Campers are grouped based on age and ability. Minimum participants: 3 campers.
• Private Surf Lessons — Age 5+ and Above · 9:00am to 3:00pm · $100–$140 per class · 90 minutes. Private lesson packages listed for 1, 2, 3, or 4+ people. Equipment is included.
• Group Surf Lessons — Age 5+ and Above · Daily at 1:00pm; offered May-September · $95 per class · 90 minutes. Up to five students. Not recommended for children unless they can comfortably handle a surfboard on their own in the ocean.

About the provider

PB Surf Shop has been open since 1962 and has been in business for over 60 years. All instructors are certified Water Safety Specialists and are certified in CPR, First Aid, and Water Safety by the American Red Cross. The shop also says it is the only surf school in the San Diego Surfing Hall of Fame.

Campers must know how to swim prior to coming to camp. Parent/guardian sign-in at drop-off and sign-out after pickup. Minimum camp size is 3 campers. Group lesson sign-ups are cut off at noon the day of the lesson unless there are already people signed up. Lessons require participants to be older than 5 years old.
